"Many things are invisible to people because of the unexpectedness of where they really are. Who would expect silk to come from worms?
People imagine that because they have grasped this point, they can exercise expectation. But, expectation may conceal the visibility of something by obsessing the observing person.
Unexpectedness is a form of expectation: 'I did not expect that' means 'I was expecting something else.'
Expectation alone is useless. The expector must be informed."

Wow, I didn't expect that!
"But, expectation may conceal the visibility of something by obsessing the observing person."
What does this mean, "obsessing the observing person?"
I think another word for "obsessing" could be "distracting." Human attention is so fragile and we are so easily fooled. "We only see what we want to see and disregard the rest," - Paul Simon "The Boxer." Pick pocket's take this fact to a science.
